Recap iDR26

Drug repurposing is moving forward, and iDR26 once again showed how much energy there is in this field.

On behalf of RARE-NL, Sibren van den Berg and Nina Stolwijk attended the conference, together with Maaike Oosterveer and Karin Ruijtenbeek from the Radboudumc Therapy Accelerator for Rare Diseases, and Saco de Visser from FAST – Centre for Future Affordable Sustainable Therapy Development.

Sibren van den Berg took part in a panel discussion on the Dutch drug repurposing landscape and the role of RARE-NL within it. During the session, Remco Molenaar discussed Pepper Therapeutics, a project we are proud to be part of, together with Orfenix, UNIIQ – Finance for the Future, Support Casper, Amsterdam Academic Ventures and the Technology Transfer Office (TTO) of Erasmus MC.

The main takeaway: the foundation is in place. The next step is case-driven action. How do we ensure that promising drug repurposing trajectories do not remain good intentions, but are actually developed further towards patient access?
