FAST – Centre for Future Affordable Sustainable Therapy Development has outlined concrete actions in a position paper to make drug repurposing more attractive to both companies and academic institutions. Among other proposals, it suggests rewarding the discoverers of a new indication. Additionally, a repurposed product could receive a temporary exclusive position within the healthcare system, combined with a reasonable and socially acceptable reimbursement.
