Guideline for socially responsible licensing
To bring an academic discovery, such as a potential new medicine, to market, collaboration with private companies is often essential. A key principle in such partnerships is that companies should handle discoveries developed with public funding in a socially responsible manner. Public-private partnerships are therefore crucial to promoting the availability and affordability of new treatments. However, academics often lack the knowledge needed to structure such collaborations or to understand the investments required within companies for a successful development trajectory.
To address this, the FAST – Centre for Future Affordable Sustainable Therapy Development has created a guideline for (academic) knowledge institutions on socially responsible licensing. This guideline aims to bridge the gap between public and private entities, facilitating a successful development process.
