Prof. dr. Carla Hollak
Chair, Internist and Professor of Medicines and Society
Carla Hollak is internist voor erfelijke stofwisselingsziekten in het Amsterdam UMC en hoogleraar Medicines and Society. Ze is betrokken bij diverse overheidsorganisaties waaronder het Zorginstituut Nederland, voorzitter van de commissie Wees, en lid van de KNAW. Als oprichter van het platform Medicijn voor de Maatschappij brengt zij uitgebreide ervaring mee in het aanpakken van casuïstiek rondom zeldzame ziekten en herbestemming van medicijnen.
Prof. dr. Dirk Lefeber
Treasurer and Professor of Glycosylation Disorders in Neurology
Dirk Lefeber is hoogleraar Glycosyleringsziekten in de Neurologie aan het Radboudumc en leidt de Therapy Accelerator for Rare Diseases. Als bestuurslid van United for Metabolic Diseases heeft hij een belangrijke rol in het versnellen van therapieontwikkeling. Zijn diepgaande kennis van systemische samenwerking draagt bij aan de financiële en wetenschappelijke strategie van RARE-NL.
Prof. dr. Teun van Gelder
Secretary, Internist-Clinical Pharmacologist and Professor of Drug Discovery
Teun van Gelder is internist-klinisch farmacoloog aan het LUMC en hoogleraar Drug Discovery & Development. Hij geeft leiding aan Academic Pharma en is voorzitter van de stichting NFKC, waar hij waardevolle ervaring heeft opgedaan met productontwikkeling. Zijn expertise in farmacologie en regulering als lid van de CCMO vormt een essentiële schakel in de missie van RARE-NL.
Sibren van den Berg is directeur van RARE-NL en heeft een achtergrond in Drug Innovation. Hij doet onderzoek naar de beschikbaarheid van geneesmiddelen voor zeldzame ziekten en is coördinator van Medicijn voor de Maatschappij. Sibren zet zich in voor efficiëntere therapieontwikkeling en toegang voor patiënten en vertaalt inzichten uit praktijkvoorbeelden naar duurzame oplossingen.
Saco de Visser is wetenschappelijk directeur van FAST en klinisch farmacoloog. Hij stond aan de wieg van FAST en het ZonMw-programma Goed Gebruik Geneesmiddelen, inclusief het Drug Rediscovery-programma. Bij FAST brengt hij diverse stakeholders samen en vertaalt hij hun samenwerking naar beleid en innovatie, waarmee hij de ontwikkeling van therapieën voor zeldzame ziekten versnelt.
Wendy van Zelst-Stams is a clinical geneticist, head of the Department of Genetics, and Professor of Care for Rare Diseases at Radboudumc. She is also head of the Department of Clinical Genetics at Maastricht UMC+. As NFU project leader, she developed an annual procedure for designating centers of expertise for rare diseases on behalf of the Ministry of Health. She is also a member of the Board of Member States for the European Reference Networks for rare diseases. On the Supervisory Board of RARE-NL, she represents the NFU, fulfilling a connecting role between university medical centers. Her broad experience and coordinating role strengthen RARE-NL’s mission to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing both nationally and internationally.
Michael Rutgers is the former director of the Lung Foundation Netherlands and now serves as a supervisor and board member in numerous organisations across the healthcare sector.

Prof. dr. Hugo van der Kuy
Liaison ErasmusMC. Professor Clinical Pharmacy at Erasmus MC
Hugo van der Kuy currently works at the Clinical Pharmacy, Erasmus MC. He is head of the department Clinical Pharmacy and is also professor in this area. Hugo does research in Clinical Pharmacology, Clinical Trials and Geriatrics.
Prof. dr. Pim Pijnappel
Liaison at Erasmus MC. Professor of Cell and Gene Therapy.
Dr. Terry Derks is a certified pediatrician specialized in metabolic diseases (since 2013) and Associate Professor (since 2020) at the Beatrix Children's Hospital, University Medical Center Groningen, University of Groningen, the Netherlands.
Dr. Antoni Gostyński is a dermatologist at Maastricht University Medical Center+ and Catharina Hospital Eindhoven. He has a strong track record in academic hospital settings and conducts research in genodermatoses, with a primary focus on inherited keratinization disorders.
